Hi there, I have accepted work in China. The agent asked where I am so I said Bangkok. He said he doesn't know if the embassy there issues work visa and that I may have to go back home to get it. That can't be true can it?

Find another agent......or better yet, do it yourself.

The embassy doesn't issue the work visa, they have a separate service center that handles that.

 

Take the MRT to Phetchaburi Station, or the canal boat to Asoke Pier.

As a US citizen I have received China crew visas in Chiang Mai several times

 

Every time the reception staff starts with ”go back to your country/BKK” then I remind them I got it there last time. Pure laziness.

 

The consul staff are wonderful. Just the young Thai ladies at the door appear trained to say cannot
