Deadly Accident On Bai Pass

As a foreman was driving at high speed – about 1 km from the bridge at Kratinglai Intersection, heading for

Rayong, the pickup he drove lost balance and crashed into an 18 wheeled truck, killing two people and left many – including himself injured on Road 36.

In the night of Friday the 13th of July we were notified about this tragic accident. A Toyota Vigo pickup truck was totally smashed into the side of an 18 wheeled trailer that was attempting to make a u-turn to Rayong. There were two bodies trapped in the pickup, being Mr. Khamron Sinpru, aged 34 who had been decapitated and Mr. Somchai Muenphot, aged 27. The officers and rescuers had to use a lot of equipment to get the car out from underneath the trailer, and then get the men out.

The police recorded the scene and statements and are doing more investigations on this horrific accident.

A construction foreman driver was speeding a Vigo truck to take workers from Rayong on the way to Bangkok, 2 people were killed and 2 others injured on Friday when a truck slammed into an 18 wheels caravan during it’s U-turn.

The fatal crash took place on the road No. 36 (Khao Mai Gaew – Korat), Moo 2, Pong, Banglamung, Chonburi , on Friday, the 13th, at 9.00 pm.

At the U-turn spot, the police found a Nissan 18 wheels caravan, licensed 70-0592, Patumthani, was in the U-turn position with a serious crash of a silver bronze Toyota Vigo, licensed 5981, Bangkok stuck underneath. The front seat passenger of Toyota Vigo, Mr. Kamron Sinpru (34), from Nakornrachasima province was dead with his head cut off, and another one in the rear seat, Mr.Somchai Muenphote (27), Wang namyen, Sakaew province, also dead with crushingly body.

The accident victims were trapped inside the truck. The officials were able to take their bodies out off the vehicle with great difficulty. However, Mr. Wacharin Chimwong (34), the driver from Rayong province and a passenger,Mr. Somchai Phanit (28), from Samkoke, Pathumthani province who sat in the back had minor injuries.

Mr. Wacharin Chimwong (34), the driver explained to the police that he was driving on the right lane behind a car with a steadying speed. Suddenly the car in front indicated to the right then he thought that the car driver was given a way for him to over taken on the left. So he was speeding up, but suddenly he saw an 18 wheels caravan, in front, was doing a circle to make a U-turn. He immediately slammed the brake from 200 meters away, but could not stop the truck and lost control, causing the truck to crash into the 18 wheels caravan.

The 18 wheels caravan driver,Mr. Boonjan Sriwongmae (31) from Sakaew province, told the police that he was driving the caravan from Rayong province to go to Chonburi to pick up metal steel. Arriving at the U-turn point, he indicated a light to go from the left lane to the right lane in order to make a U-turn. He suddenly, heard a braking noise from far away behind, and the truck then crashed into his caravan with a very loud noise which caused death and injury.

Both drivers were taken to have further investigation.
