UTH001
Quote I like to go to Vientiane for a day trip. Seem to recall that after Covid, a one night stay was required but don't know if that rule/requirement still exists. Possibly now to just enter Laos in the morning and return to Thailand in the afternoon (with Thai re-entry visa)?
Gottfrid
I have done it before at the Chon Chom / Osmach border. But, that was before Covid.
GypsyT
Nice hotel $16-22 in Vientiane. Why stress trip? No worries at border.
Popular Post Mangkhut
Of course its possible! People do visaruns all the time, stamp out of TH, stamp in to Lao-stamp out of Lao and back and into TH again - in less than an hour. Costs 40 USD for a Laos visa though. So why dont spend some time in Laos?
JCauto
Vientiane has great Western food at ridiculously low prices. Stay a few days and feast!
Gknrd
I drove in and spent a few of months last year, right before Christmas. Great time. The roads are the worst in Aisa... My goodness. The Belt and road from China has bankrupted the country. But, I loved it there...
Peterw42
I have not been for a long time, but I recall any requirement to stay overnight etc, came from the Thai side of things, cant leave then return on the same day. That was a long time ago.
SunsetT
When I 1st came to Thailand my Thai lady and 2 friends took me to Vientiane. We crossed the bridge and hired a taxi and driver on the other side for the day to visit all the sights. I dont recall much about it or the cost, which I no doubt paid! If it had been very expensive I would remember it....555.

But from my last experience most places happy to accept baht, USD, Euro....but not GBP. But the change comes in kip.
