Thais trapped in Myanmar are safe : government spokesman

The Thai Embassy in Myanmar is providing shelter for Thais who were trapped in a border town, where fighting between the junta and an ethnic alliance is escalating.

 

Thai government spokesman Chai Wacharonke said Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin has already been informed that 162 Thais became stuck in the town of Laukkai in Myanmar.

 

“The Thai Embassy in Myanmar has settled the Thais in a safe shelter and is providing them with necessities. The embassy is talking to the Myanmar authorities to find ways to get them back to Thailand as soon as possible,” the spokesman said.

Myanmar's situation is looking more and more interesting by the day. The generals  in charge appear to be losing. Would be the only way they hold on is to bring in Chinese troops.

The people of Myanmar and the rank-and-file of the military continue to suffer from the rampant corruption and systemic conflict of interest under Senior General Min Aung Hlaing’s leadership.

Public assets stolen by Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and his family must be returned to the people. Without action from a democratically elected government, there is a high risk that Senior General Min Aung Hlaing will try to hang onto power as Commander-in-Chief and use it to continue to amass wealth through military conglomerates and his family businesses, while the majority of the people of Myanmar and the rank-and-file of the military live in poverty.

It is nothing compared to Myanmar .

Keeping the troops in poverty is probably not a wise policy, if you rely on them to remain in power - unless it is a short term plan with a clear exit strategy, to reunite himself with his no doubt impressive overseas stache of wealth!
