LuckyLucas
Hi all A colleague of mine has bought a plane ticket with Emirates and got one letter wrong on her Aunt's long Thai name. She contacted Emirates and said they will add this to REMARKS on the ticket but not change it. I imagine this happens sometimes with the transliteration of long Thai names Is there likely to be a problem in members' experience? She obviously just wants peace of mind Kind Regards LL
delgarcon
I would want to see where the remarks were added before I turned up at the gate with the ticket.
gargamon
Air asia and Cebu Pathetic (Philippines) routinely block passengers with misspelled names or incorrect birthdays. Granted they are both quite sleazy... I'd make sure the passenger has a letter from the airline stating the error has been noted and will not cause problems. Not just a “note in the file“, but an actual email or document from the airline.
G Rex
I would suggest that if she has time for the ticket to be reissued with the correct spelling - do it now. I had some dramas in Seoul recently when my name was misspelt on my boarding pass - definitely not worth the hassle! It is their mistake - get them to fix it.

My friend spelt her Aunt's surname wrong so it's her mistake Cheers for the replies so far 🙂 1

But yes, I would get it corrected if time allows.
PJ71
I would have it match the name on passport as one chap above suggests.

noobexpat
I've done this myself ...with emirates too! Input my shortened name, instead of passport name. Lady at check-in said no problem but be careful doing it again.
rasg
I mistyped my name when I booking a flight to Portugal with BA just over a week ago. How I missed it, I don't know but I did. I called BA and they fixed it but it took 24 hours to show on the updated booking. The typo still hadn’t gone on the car hire and hotel booking though but there was no problem with either of them.
