The Constitutional Court has set a date for 2 important hearings. The first is set for December 20th, addressing allegations against Pita Limjaroenrat for holding shares in a media company during election candidacy. The second, scheduled for December 25th, will delve into a controversial proposal to amend a key law related to royal defamation.

The 1st hearing stems from Pita’s shareholder status in iTV Public Company Limited, a now-defunct media firm, at the time of his election candidacy. Following a petition by the Election Commission, the Court has suspended Pita from his parliamentary duties starting July 19th, pending a final decision. Pita submitted a defense statement, along with a list of witnesses and evidence, on October 2nd and an additional witness list on October 18th. The Court, after deliberation, has decided to proceed with witness hearings on December 20th at 9:30 AM.

The other case involves Teerayuth Suwannakesorn urging the Constitutional Court to evaluate the actions of Pita, the then-leader of the Move Forward Party, and the party itself. This case scrutinizes their continuous campaign to amend the Criminal Code of Article 112, which deals with royal defamation. The Court, acknowledging the need for further examination, has scheduled a witness hearing for this case on December 25th at 9:30 AM.
