FBI returning agents to counterterrorism work after diverting them to immigration

The FBI is returning counterterrorism agents who were ordered to focus on immigration cases back to their old jobs because of concern about potential threats from Iran, four people with direct knowledge of the matter told NBC News.

Don Holstead, the assistant director for counter terrorism, issued guidance over the weekend reassigning agents who work on counterterrorism, counterintelligence and cyber issues but had been sidetracked by immigration duties, two of the people said.

All four people said the move was related to the possibility of Iran’s retaliating against the United States for its recent military strikes against Iranian nuclear sites.

Thanks to the neocons in the Trump administration, dangerous illegals have a lot less to fear. ICE isn't set up to pursue dangerous felons. That's what the FBI is for. But now it has to protect against possible Iranian terrorists wreaking havoc on Americans. But, hey, Israelis are safer and as Tim Pool said, "Ask not what your country can do for you, but rather what your country can do for Israel."

Remember not so long ago when President Trump ordered attacks on the Houthis even though they weren't attacking US ships? And he came to an agreement with them. So long as they didn't attack US targets he didn't care what they did. And that included not caring about Israel.  Same should go for Iran.

And maybe you think it's great that law enforcement gets pulled off prosecuting dangerous criminals from south of the border because now they've got to deal with possible threat from Iranian terrorists. I'm sure your murdering buddies from South of the Border are thrilled that the FBI has been pulled off the case.

And the possibility of Iranian sleeper cells doing harm to Americans just increased exponentially.  Why do you think that the FBI is no longer helping capture dangerous illegals? Now they have to hunt down Iranian terrorists in America.

You didn't mention the Biden/Harris open border policy which let millions of illegals in in the first place. Whether with more or less of the FBI, at least Trump is trying to get rid of and protect against them. I'd exchange a mushroom cloud over NY City for losing some of the FBI to other tasks anytime, so would any sane person. You Democommies are really grasping at straws.

Making some good points and not losing your cool.  Refreshing thread and still think the Pres is making the right decisions but time will tell.  Would you include the Ukraine involvement as  also a bad idea?

Absolutely. Even if Putin does invade his neighbors, so what? How will that hurt America? If the Europeans are so alarmed about this, let them handle it. Since this is the case,  I still don't understand why President Trump thinks it's important for Europeans to up their defense spending. Why should that even be a concern of the United States? Why is the American still in NATO? How to reconcile that with America First?

I expect more from President Trump than "at least". I expected him not to get militarily involved in the Mideast. I expected him not to undertake actions that endanger Americans.

Israel is USA’s no1 enemy. Explain mossad agents videotaping around the twin towers on Sept11. The agents were caught that day but later released. They have infested a fine establishment and rotting it from within.

Better ot have friends when you need them but get what you are saying.  Don't agree 100% but generally think America should play a much smaller role in policing the world.  It is worth considering the impact the USA has had since it began to police the world.  The world isn't perfect but vs pre-American military dominance, It sure is much less deadly.

More like a 60 year period? So for the past 60 years America has been bad for world peace but that doesn't count? Ancient history is more relevant? America needs to disentangle itself now.

And the reason America had to fight World War 2 was because it helped France, the UK and other allies to win World War 1. Those allies imposed a brutal peace on Germany which led to the resentment that fostered World War 2.
