Crossy
Today I received my shiny new "Issued by UOB" Citi branded Visa card. UOB have taken over the Thai business from Citi. It would have been nice if the person applying the UOB stickers hadn't been drunk. At first, I thought UOB were saving money by using up Citi blanks, but on the back of the card, correctly printed, is "Issued by United Overseas Bank" so this is an actual UOB card that has needed an el-cheapo sticker put on the front. Never mind, it works just fine, even with the wonky sticker.
tomazbodner
Mine is valid another 3 years, so I haven't seen that sticker. But yes, when Citi got new CEO, her first announcement was to close down or sell most of their business. For Thailand, Citibank's operations were purchased by UOB which is using Citi's brand under license for 5 years, if I am not mistaken. All operations are already moved over to UOB, though, so if you call Citi phone support, it's covered by UOB agents. I must say that compared to HSBC/Krungsri version of the same thing some years back, this transition is a lot smoother. So far, anyway.
