A THAI NEIGHBOUR who was arrested for hitting an Italian man in the head with an iron rod till he collapsed and died in front of his house in Pathum Thani Saturday afternoon (Dec. 2) said he was angry because the deceased man discarded garbage in front of his house and had filed a case against his son leading to his imprisonment, Thai Rath newspaper and TV Channel 7 said.

THE CORRECTIONS DEPARTMENT has been advised to never manage a house arrest for de facto Pheu Thai boss/convict at large Thaksin Shinawatra so that he could otherwise literally stay at home in lieu of a prison.

Over 37,000 informal debtors register for help in just 2 days

A total of 37,579 people, who claim to have incurred about Bt1.5 billion in informal debt with 19,061 creditors, have applied for help from the state in the first two days of the informal debt settlement program, said Suttipong Juljarern, the permanent secretary of the Interior Ministry, on Sunday.

Thai Red Cross clarifies blood donation charges are for service not sale

The Thai Red Cross Society’s National Blood Centre clarified that the blood donated and subsequently delivered across the nation’s hospitals is not up for sale. However, recipients are required to cover a service fee.

Pattaya police explain alleged bribery in child prostitution case

Pattaya police issued a statement today in an attempt to clarify a German media report, claiming that a German tourist, who was arrested for buying sexual services from an underage girl in Pattaya bar in September last year, was released after allegedly paying a million baht bribe to police before leaving Thailand.
