webfact
In a tragic incident on December 5, 2023, at 2:00 AM, a collision between a trailer truck and a gravel-laden vehicle led to a fatal overturn on Ratchaphruek Road, near Pak Khlong Phasi Charoen, Bangkok. The Deputy Inspector, Pol. Col. Sirichai Chaiwut, from the Taxation Police Division, received the distress call and rushed to the scene along with medical personnel from Siriraj Hospital and volunteers from the Puatet Teak Foundation, reported Siam Rath. The accident occurred on the middle of the bridge over Bang Phlai Canal, where the gravel truck, registered in Bangkok, collided with a trailer truck bearing the logo of a private company from Kanchanaburi. The impact caused the trailer truck to flip and rest on the bridge's edge, resulting in the tragic death of the gravel truck driver, identified as Mr. Somkiat (surname withheld), aged 41. Preliminary investigations revealed that Mr. Thotsaphon, after delivering a load of crushed stones from Kanchanaburi to a construction site in Samut Prakan, was returning to Kanchanaburi. While driving, he glanced at his mobile phone, causing the collision with the gravel truck ahead. The force of the collision was so intense that it resulted in the gravel truck overturning, ultimately causing the tragic fatality. Currently, the investigative team is scrutinizing CCTV footage from the accident site to collect supplementary evidence for the ongoing legal proceedings against the party deemed responsible. Chris Daley
Looks like we have a choice now between drugged up drivers swigging beer vs AI driverless vehicles that are incapable of having an accident. Bring on the driverless vehicles.
