They can source a used 3 Speed Shimano hub with the handlebar gear shifter as these are common here in SE Asia. You may also opt for a Nexus 7 speed also made by Shimano, which will give you a better range if going up hills. Rohloff is essentially the Rolex of internal gear hubs, true precision German engineering, but the Shimano internal hubs are strong workhorses also.
