Visa 6 Months Out Of Date

i have just returned from my 90 day check in at bangkok immigration while i was there i was approached by a very drunk scandinavian

gentlemen this was a little bit surprising as it was only 8. 30 am he asked me if i thought he had a problem as his visa was 6 months out of date i told him that i thought he did have "a problem" and he wandered off muttering in his own language it got me to thinking that as there are fixed fines for being 1 day over or 1 week over what happens to someone who turns up at the airport with a visa 6 months out of date

or for that matter a few years out of date this must have happened many times i just wondered how it would be dealt with ????
