webfact
Finland has announced a hike in the minimum daily financial requirement for a Schengen visa, elevating it from €30 (1,137.33 Thai Baht) to €50 (1,895.55 Thai Baht). This change, effective from January 1, 2024, is part of new regulations introduced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Finland, specifically impacting short-stay travellers. Among the explanations for the increase is that it will enhance immigration procedures, curb visa overstays, and prevent situations where tourists face financial constraints. It is also justified as a response to the recent rise in the cost of living in Finland. by Gregers Møller Full story: ScandAsia 2024-01-08 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. hotchilli
From the link: In addition to the increased financial requirement, Finland now mandates Schengen visa applicants to provide evidence of sponsorship or accommodation throughout their stay. This means that applicants can demonstrate financial coverage with support from a Finnish citizen or resident. The proof of sponsorship form allows the citizen or resident to vouch for the financial support they are extending to the visa applicant, ensuring accountability and transparency in the financial arrangements Makes perfect sense... massage girls out. Before if you took poor girl from Isaan you had to pretend that girl had 30 euros /day to spend. Now you do not have to pretend anything if girl can demonstrate financial ( 50 euros day + accommodation ) coverage with support from a Finnish citizen or resident. I would suggest tourists coming to Thailand be required to show a minimum of 500,000 baht (of course the equivalent in their own currency) in their bank account. theoldgit
Countries in the Schengen Area have different levels of the daily amount, €50 is by no means the highest. We’re visiting the Netherlands in March for four nights, their subsistence level is €55, my wife’s visa was issued in less than a week and had a validity of five years, which means she’s good for numerous future visits. https://www.schengenvisainfo.com/schengen-visa-application-requirements/means-subsistence/

Try Thailand, where, as a retired expat, one is required to have 2,191.78 Thai baht (€57.23) in the bank for each day of staying there (if one applies for a retirement visa extension), of which, for almost half the time, not even 1 Thai baht (€0.026) can be used to pay for daily expenses...
