SuzyOnTour
We are considering cycling Khao Yai NP from south to north on our way to Chiang Mai. Can anyone tell me about the 50km ride? Is the climb steep or graduately? We are cycling on fully packed tourbikes. We do climbs along the way, but only the necessary ones. 😁 iIs it safe cycling through the NP with all the wildlife? Chomper Higgot
I’ve ridden this route on three occasions, always on a road bike, not panniers or bags. The route is demanding, but if you are a regular cyclist it’s not going to be extreme for you. The climbs are around 7-8% with one section at 11%. The road surface is very good and you needn’t worry about the animals, though keep them in mind when going down hill at speed. The one risk is wet weather, if it’s raining the road surface in places turns into a river. Enjoy your ride.
