BANGKOK, Jan 16 (TNA) –  The Digital Wallet Committee meeting earlier scheduled for today has been deferred, awaiting comments on the 5-billion-baht loan bill from the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), said Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister Phumtham Wechayachai.

The Digital Wallet Committee wishes to incorporate opinions from both the Council of State and the NACC into the meeting.

It is anticipated that the meeting of the Digital Wallet Committee will take place after the Cabinet meeting in Ranong on Jan 22-23.

Meanwhile, he confirms the progress of the digital wallet project, adhering to the original timeline. There have been no setbacks so far.

Delayed until they can find the money to pay-out the vote bribe.

I wonder when the Digital Brown Envelope will be introduced.

It would save all that time stuffing notes inside a mattress

The eagerly anticipated meeting of the Digital Wallet Committee has been abruptly postponed. Commerce Minister Phumtham Wechayachai revealed that the delay hinges on the National Anti-Corruption Commission’s (NACC) awaited verdict.

Council of State’s Secretary General, Pakorn Nilprapunt advocated for the committee to seek input not just from the Council of State but also from the NACC. Last week, the Council of State issued a stark warning, asserting that any move to secure a staggering 500 billion baht for the digital wallet initiative must adhere strictly to fiscal regulations

.

Deputy Finance Minister Julapun Amornvivat assured the public that the committee remains committed to heeding the counsel of both the NACC and the Council of State, even as the clock ticks down to the scheduled May launch. Dismissing rumours of a downsized scheme at 300 billion baht, Julapun vehemently denied any such plans, reported Thai PBS World.

Addressing concerns about the possibility of resorting to an executive decree if a loan bill proves unattainable, Julapun remained cryptic. He stated that it depended on the situation, asserting the government’s authority to issue an executive decree if needed.

40% "Commision".

They are slipping the May launch date.

BREAKING: The 10,000 baht digital wallet handouts scheme will not be ready by May, admits Deputy Finance Minister Julphan Amornvivat on Wednesday. Julphan said a meeting yesterday had to be deferred as the National Anti-Corruption Commission is sending its objection letter, adding meanwhile the Council of State has decided to neither support nor oppose the flagship policy promise of the ruling Pheu Thai Party.
He urges people to understand that many needy people will benefit from this half a trillion baht scheme and that the government isn't being stubborn.

Seems like this one is dead, but no one has told the corpse yet.

Both the Council of State and the NACC have weighed in with the NACC objecting and the CoS neither approving nor rejecting.

Someone, like Srettha, is going to have to stick his neck out if he wants this. Even then it's easy to envision the courts issuing a hold, pending a new PM. Then Srettha can be blamed and replaced with Thaksin's choice, which is lately rumored to be Anutin.
