4 year old boy falls to his death from 23rd floor of Bangkok condo

Tragedy struck the Jomthong district of Bangkok yesterday when a four year old boy fell to his death from the balcony of a 23rd-floor condominium on Rama II Road. The family had only just moved into the condo on the day of the heartbreaking incident.

Bangmod Police Station officers visited the 26-storey condo at about 4pm yesterday after receiving reports of the fall. Officers discovered the lifeless body of the boy, Witsanuwat “Java” Kittaratakarn, outside the condo. His aunt, 31 year old Thaksana Manowatcharakorn, was seen crying near his body.

Java was seen lying face-up on the footpath within the condo premises. He was wearing a brown short-sleeved shirt and dark blue shorts. His body was dark and bruised from the impact of falling from a high balcony. Java’s body was transferred to the Siriraj Hospital for an autopsy.

Thaksana kept crying and could not provide any details of the incident to officers. Police and the rescuers had to calm Thaksana down until she could tell the officers what had happened before the fall.

Can so easily happen, new place unpacking, kid excited goes to out to balcony to explore his new surroundings and maybe a balcony was new to him.  I wonder if he climbed or the rail was wide enough for him to crawl through. RIP young one.

Only a heartless loser would post a laughing icon on sad news like this. This website has really become awful.

Indeed...    its time we brought back the system were we could see who posted the 'emoji' responses...

It would make the trolls more accountable, or at least recognisable.

I can not imagine the soul searching any parent or guardian would go through after such a accident every time I hear Eric Clapton sing I think tears in heaven I think of his tragedy

Wow, tragic.  RIP little one.

I  can't imagine with what mentality this type of comments are done.

Same for the person who thinks this is funny to add a laughing imoji to the OP.

Plenty of weird beings amongst us,  and they aren't Thai people.

Could be the same person trolling a terrible story.

Horrifying

I disagree.  If the railing was built to a safety standard it probably wouldn't have happened.  We may never know how he git over or through the railing or if it was intact.    But in the US railings on decks and stairs must be built so a 100mm ball can't pass between the stiles.    My money is on the railing being of poor design.

RIP

I dint know how I could go on living if this was my child or under my watch.   42 floors?  OMG

I do want to express my sadness for the family who must be devastated.

Why would the door to the balcony be unlocked?

23 floors up and the adults did not think that a 4 year old may not see any danger?

It is tragic that a small child had to die.

Thats a Bingo Mr Smith!

That emoji was designed specifically and intended for something funny!

Rip little one , hope the authorities figure out a solution

so this never happens again.

Pure negligence and Darwinism at work….no different than grown ups allowing young kids to play near ponds and canals unsupervised…city living has dangers too

Move on….

Thaksana stated that she was busy unpacking when Java sneaked out to the balcony. She forgot to lock the balcony door, causing the accident.

Another example of Safety First Thailand.

RiP little one.

Eric Clapton's son, Connor, was also four when he died in a similar way.  The song "Tears in Heaven" was written as a tribute.

So sad if this happened to my daughter i just couldn't live with myself, saying that it would not happen you need to be on the alert 24 7 with kids

Before i worked 4 weeks on 4 weeks off in the oil industry, i used to Dred seeing my family up bush visiting relatives told my wife never ever let her alone with any of your relatives.

Nothing against her relatives but they just don't pick up on dangerous situations like i would.
