Thailand news - A complaint about price-gouging on Bangkok to Phuket flights has kicked the Thai transport minister into action who is promising lower fares... don't hold your breath. Chine New Year travel numbers exceeded 2019, the last full year of tourism. Higher temperatures, up to 45 celsius, are being promised for this year's hot season. Government is throwing money at a World Songkran Festival in Bangkok, animal smuggling stories and a sick Tiger found and hospitalised, Thaksin is receiving visitors - parole officers and the former Cambodian PM, and a 2012 Thai movie "Shakespeare Must Die" is finally being released after being banned for the past 11 years.

Tim Newton Today is a daily take on Thai and regional news and issues of interest to expats and foreign tourists.
