On February 21st, Colonel Tanarat Lukboon, Secretary-General of the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB), along with Lieutenant Colonel Tinnakorn Rangmat, Deputy Commander of Bangkok Metropolitan Police, officers from the Immigration Bureau and Tourist Police conducted an operation to dismantle a drug network in the Nana area, Sukhumvit Soi 3/5/7/9/11.

Colonel Tanarat Lukboon, ONCB Secretary-General, stated, "Based on reports and complaints from the public, it was discovered that foreign nationals were selling drugs to Thai and foreign tourists, leading to unrest and endangering public safety, reported Siam Rath.

Furthermore, a Swiss tourist died from cocaine overdose. Investigations revealed the purchase of cocaine from West African nationals in the Nana area.",

The operation involved raids on hotels, apartments, and entertainment venues, targeting over 100 individuals. Today's operation resulted in the arrest of two suspects for drug-related offenses and one for illegal immigration.

This operation, initiated last week, led to the arrest of six West African nationals, confiscating 1.45 grams of cocaine and 13.5 grams of heroin, along with assets valued at approximately 4.6 million baht.

Colonel Tanarat emphasized the government's commitment to addressing drug and crime issues in tourist areas, aiming to ensure the safety and confidence of both local and international tourists.

He acknowledged the cooperation of citizens in reporting drug activities and urged continuous engagement to foster community involvement. The government's goal is sustainable solutions to drug problems, achieved through active citizen participation.

This could be alarming.

Hopefully, they will do a thorough chemical analysis on the drugs seized and with an autopsy.

Might be a good idea for public health officials to get ahead of the curve and stock up on Naxalone. (Narcan).

Well at least they got a perp to do the obligatory finger pointing.

50% discount off his sentence right there...

Starts off sounding very impressive. 100 suspects and a week long operation.

Looks like a serious move by law enforcement to rid us of the long-standing drug gangs in that area.

Oh I see, nah, it’s just the usual dog and pony show.

Just foreigners arrested. Foreigners cannot do the jobs reserved for Thais!!!!😏😏😏😏😂🤣😂🤣

This 'business' has been going on for many years and has received huge publicity, and they are only now taking action? At the same time, did they arrest the dozens of African prostitutes lining the street, as that is an illegal occupation usually reserved only for Thais.

Reacting to complaints?

The RTP must be the only people within a five mile radius who don't know about these drug dealers......but I guess many of them do and are not happy that this action has been taken.

Oh my god, the brilliant detective work involved here! I guess African men standing along the street asking, "want drugs?" might have been the first clue? Luckily it only took 25 years to pierce the veil of this well-hidden enterprise.

The other 94 got advance notice. Conspicuously absent several days in advance of the date.

I'm surprised they dont have their own priority lane at the airport channeling them directly to jail.
