When will ETIAS be mandatory for UK travelers to Europe?

Recommended Posts

I might require to visit France next month, mid April.

Is the ETIAS visa now required for UK citizens, or yet to be implemented?

The info online seems a bit confused and contradictory.

Whilst it’s true that this new requirement wouldn’t have applied to UK Citizens if the UK had remained in the EU, it’s probably worth noting that it applies to all third country nationals, like USA and Australia.

The UK is rolling out a similar scheme.

Did you mean "it applies to all third world country nationals, like USA and Australia"?  A bit harsh on Australia, I think.

Basically all Western countries are going down this road.

Think of it as 'visa lite'

It's not the horrendous application fee, no paperwork, no interview. 10 minutes sat at a computer is a small price to pay.

ESTA for the US I think costs $20, and I'm sure the EU version won't be much different

$20 on top of whatever you are paying for your trip is a drop in the ocean, and you know what, if that $20 weeds out one potential threat in a million, I'm happy to pay it

"Third country" is a term which has been dreamt up by those EU "geniuses" in Brussels to mean non-EU (and mainly Western) countries whose nationals are not required to obtain Schengen visas as a prerequisite to having the temerity to exercise the right to set foot on their hallowed turf.
