I alluded to this in another thread so I thought I'd give an up-date.

A friend of my was playing with his children in the park a week or so ago. He slipped and dislocated his shoulder. Obviously something else was hit because that evening, having earlier said he was fine, he lapsed into unconsciousness. He was taken into hospital where he choked on his own vomit, suffered cardiac arrest and was 'out' for 6 minutes. Since then he was on a life suport machine. Yesterday they switched off the machine and he died.

He was 38-39 years old and leaves his wife and 2 children.

There are many sad friends like me and my wife.

It's so very sad.

I wish his wife and children strength and courage. May he rest in peace.

edit: i feel the questions i asked were not appropiate, was out of shock when reading that such a young man passed so suddenly.

Very sad news Suega. My condolences.

My own father died at the young age of 39 and it really is too young.

So sorry for your loss, I lost my best friend when we were 18.

It always feels so wrong when people dont make a ripe old age.

This is very sad news. There is no way to express my feelings via the keyboard other than to say that it is a tragic loss of someone who was young and had so much to live for.

Ah, suegha. If I could give comfort then be happy in the knowing that your friend lives forever. But I think you already know that. Allow that knowing to be enough.

Condolences. Sorry to hear that. Be there for his family.

Once again thanks for the kind words. Although I am over the initial shock, there is still a little 'numbness' in my heart. His family has loads of support right now - they need it. The funeral is on Thursday. I'm sure it will be painful, but we always try to make such occasions a clebration of the persons life.

My Bible studies I am afraid are somewhat lacking.

I don't know what to say Tigger. Sorry for your pain. Condolences to the survivors in the family.

I had a couple in my extended family both die of cancer in their early forties in the same year.

At least their kids were grown when it happened but it was still pretty devastating.

Life isn't fair.

If you have my deepest condolences, my friend. I am sorry to hear such sad news. I hope his family and yours will find the piece of mind you need to carry on, for I am sure he rests easy now and would only wish the best for those he left behind.

Why thank you Moss, that quote is perfect. Psalm 31 is one of my favourites. Verse 5 is particularly relevant.

"Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O LORD God of truth." Quoted, of course, by Jesus on the cross. As my friend was a fellow believer, you have quoted the most perfect psalm. Thank you Moss, that has lifted my spirits!
