I read on another forum that some immigration offices require a monthly transfer equivalent to 65,000 baht to grant a one-year extension; is this true? And if so, is the option of keeping 800,000 baht in a fixed deposit account still valid? That would be much more feasible for me

I have never heard of an office that "requires" monthly transfers, i.e. will not accept an 800k deposit. If in a fixed deposit account the important factor is that it must be immediately withdrawable, albeit with a loss of interest to yourself, but no issue to immigration.
