Thailand is seeking Germany's support in its bid to become a member of the OECD Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development.

German chancellor Olaf Scholtz said Germany attaches importance to strengthening economic cooperation with countries in Southeast Asia, 

Joining the OECD, would help facilitate negotiations on a free trade agreement between Thailand and the European Union.

Meanwhile, the US Secretary of Commerce met with Prime Minister Srettha in Bangkok yesterday to enhance US-Thai trade and investment, emphasizing Thailand's potential gains from diversifying global supply chains.

 

Prime Minister Srettha said he may meet former prime minister Thaksin shinawat in Chiang Mai today, Thaksin is currently visiting his old home province after 17 years abroad.

 

Two suspected southern rebels were killed and one officer was injured in a clash in the southern province of Pattani yesterday. 

Some 50 members of the security forces surrounded a house in where two suspected insurgents were hiding.
Negotiations for them to surrender failed resulting in a shootout 

 

Navy warship accidentally fired an artillery shell at a frigate docked in Chonburi, wounding 13 sailors yesterday.Firefighters  took about 30 minutes to bring the blaze under control. 

The Public Taxi Association petitioned the ministry of Transport to raise the starting fare at Mo Chit in Bangkok from 40 to 50 baht due to issues with illegal taxis,  backed by a survey of 1,000 passengers showing 99% support for the increase.
