Hello all,

I have recently returned home to California after a year in Thailand, I am a U.S citizen. I had a type O non-immigrant multi entry visa, that was issued graciously by Denver consulate in Colorado. I just called Denver to see if they could issue me another one, and the recording states California residents must now go through LosAngeles consulate. I think everyone is in agreement that, I probably would not receive anything from L.A.. I dont so much need a year, but would like a 90day tourist visa. With the new laws that have gone into effect while i was in Thailand, am i eligable to go back to Thailand before 6mo? Is there anything that can be done to change that? Ive only been back in California 3mo, and cant imagine waiting another 3 to go back. I still have an apartment there... If anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate it. I was hoping these new laws would just fizzle out, I guess i was wrong. Thank you all in advance...

There are no restrictions on the amount of times you can visit using a Visa. BTW a tourist Visa is for 60 days but can be extended by 30 days in Thailand. If you cannot get another Non Imm O , why not go for a double or triple entry tourist visa.

Thank you lite beer for the reply. I forgot to add, my type O visa expired in May. I was under the impression that with the new laws, i would not be able to obtain a tourist visa, having spent more than 6 months in the kingdom in the past year. I would love to get another type O, I just dont believe the powers that be would be that gracious. Does anyone have information on the new laws?? Thanks in advance...

The restrictions you are talking about apply to visa-exempt stay. You had a proper visa and as such should be able to apply for a new visa in your home country without a problem provided the visa requested fits the reason you are returning.

The law is simple - not more than 90 days on visa exempt entry during a six month period. There is no requirement to remain out of Thailand for any time and only time on visa exempt stamps counts against the 90 day count.

Give the Houston Tx Consulate a try.

What Im hearing is, that my one year visa stamps (ninty day visa run stamps), do not count toward the 90days. I can head back anytime, but only for 90 days out of six months? That really makes things alot simpler for me...thank you so much for the feeback. Do I need to apply for a visa...or can i just head over on the 30 day stamp? I plan on traveling alot this year, so getting across the border every 30 days, isnt that difficult for me. Thank you so much for the response... I guess i can book my ticket. :o

If you get a tourist visa you will be able to stay without worry about 90 days in six months. It is also safer to have a visa for getting on a flight as without a visa you should have onward tickets within 30 days.
