webfact
Thailand news - Another incident of poor behaviour from a foreigner in Thailand, this time a young Russian woman 'kicking' a pregnant Thai retail store owner on Koh Pha Ngan. Is the reporting of many of these incidents fuelling anti-foreigner sentiment? Another bus crash kills two. Northern Thailand and Chiang Mai's air pollution woes get international attention, Maize (corn) import bans get the nod from the Thai cabinet, and Bangkok Airways buys a stake in U-Tapao Airport. The case of the disabled wheelchair user on a Thai VietJet flight last week also takes another step. Tim Newton Today is a daily take on Thai and regional news and issues of interest to expats and foreign tourists.

herfiehandbag
I doubt that there has been an upsurge in this sort of behaviour across the board by foreigners in Thailand. I suspect that a couple of incidents have brought the behaviour of foreigners - very much the minority - into the spotlight of the Thai media. I also suspect that the current international situation has led to an increase in what may be described as the less desirable and more noticable elements in certain areas - Phuket in particular, which has long been a magnet for foreigners. Paris333
If Mr Srettha Thai coallition Government does not take tough measures to protect Thai citizens from the criminal and racist behaviour of foreigners the crime will be skyrocket. The Russian foreigner should be convicted not only for endangering the life of the pregnant woman but also for the possible loss of life of the pregnant baby. Generally foreigners are a danger in Thailand not only for Thais but also to another tourist foreigners and appropriate messures should be taken by Prime Minister Mr Srettha. During last 10 days we have 4 "cases" of unacceptable almost collonialist and racial behaviour from foreigners against specific Thai l.a.d.i.e.s........We do not have a criminal behaviour against Thais but we have a clear misogynist stance against Thai ladies.......The "hero" of our story try to kill two human beings one lady and an unborn baby.... Mr Srettha message received? You are very tall human but your implemented policy to protect Thai people from foreigners is tiny almost non-existent. Τhai Immigration Authorities should revoke Russia visa for at least 5 years and penalty (fine) at least TBaht 300.000 (Russia Rubles 760).
mania
Agree with Tim that banning import of Maize from neighboring burning countries does Zero to help Thailand. In fact it is little more than the pot calling the kettle black. The PM should consider cleaning up his own house before sanctioning others. If this is a tit for tat then all those countries should also ban any imports from Thailand due to their burning Edited March 20 by mania
