What a bloody shame, why don't people wear helmets?

I saw lots of Thai's wearing their dusty helmets during the rain storm we had yesterday.

Sadly, it seems the only time they wear.

4 or 5 on a motorbike, they can only blame themselves

She was wearing one, but it appears to have not helped very much.

From the link:

Mrs. Nonglak Jitjaikla, Vice Mayor of the Khao Chi Chan sub-district, revealed that eyewitnesses told her that they saw the victim riding a red-and-black Honda Wave motorcycle along the road. She reportedly suddenly swerved and collided with two other motorcycles. The impact threw the deceased several meters down the road, causing her helmet to shatter.

The main cause of accidents in Thailand (and elsewhere perhaps), is SPEED. Not the number of riders or passengers...

They call it a helmet, it's poor English, they offer no protection.

You couldn't ride a bicycle in Australia, it's illegal to use those plastic hats.

I've never liked those pudding bowl style helmets.  Only slightly better than nothing.

I always don a full face helmet, no matter how damn hot it is. Best safe than sorry.  Most proper bikers know this and buy the best they can afford.

Learnt this back in NZ as the roads there are a coarse chip seal.  It's like sandpaper should you slide on it.  Roads here aren't so bad being predominantly concrete.

But that too has its problems ie sand, grit, oil even water can become a big hazard.

Condolences to the parents.

Read my comment, 2 above.

What is the meaning of helmet?

hel·met ˈhel-mət.

1. : a covering or enclosing headpiece of armor.

2. : any of various protective head coverings usually made of a hard material.

Not English calling that plastic hat a helmet.

Next door neighbour wears a builders helmet...  not even a strap.

Lunacy

Read the article link:

Three motorbikes involved. Do the math.

That's weird and see it too often.

Any impact and off it goes, head is exposed.
