The Vatican has made a significant declaration denouncing gender-affirming surgeries and surrogacy as grave violations of human dignity, equating them with abortion and euthanasia. The document, titled "Infinite Dignity," was approved by Pope Francis after five years of development and was released by the Vatican's doctrine office.

In this declaration, the Vatican reiterated its rejection of "gender theory," affirming that God created man and woman as biologically distinct beings. It stated that any attempt to change one's gender through surgery risks undermining the unique dignity bestowed upon individuals from the moment of conception.

While distinguishing between gender-affirming surgeries and treatments for genital abnormalities present at birth, the Vatican emphasized the importance of upholding the dignity of both the child and the surrogate mother. The document condemned surrogacy as a violation of the child's right to a fully human origin and criticized the notion of a "right to a child" that disregards the child's dignity as the recipient of the gift of life.

Additionally, the declaration addressed the issue of criminalization and persecution based on sexual orientation, asserting that such actions are contrary to human dignity. It echoed Pope Francis' stance that being homosexual is not a crime and condemned the imprisonment, torture, and deprivation of life experienced by individuals solely because of their sexual orientation.

While the document restated previous Catholic doctrine opposing abortion and euthanasia, it also emphasized the threats to human dignity posed by poverty, war, human trafficking, and forced migration. Notably, it refrained from repeating previous language labeling homosexual actions as "intrinsically disordered."

The release of this declaration has sparked criticism and controversy, particularly from transgender activists who view it as hurtful and ignorant. They argue that gender-affirming healthcare has been life-saving for many transgender individuals and that the Vatican's stance ignores the experiences and voices of real trans people.

Overall, the Vatican's declaration underscores its commitment to upholding what it sees as God's plan for human life and dignity, while also addressing contemporary issues surrounding gender and reproductive rights. However, it has also ignited debate and raised questions about the church's approach to LGBTQ+ individuals and their rights.

Catholics maybe?

Ah ... those Christian hypocrites, who get abortions every year ... I don't think so.

"The last year for which Guttmacher reported a yearly national total was 2020. It said there were 930,160 abortions that year in all 50 states and the District of Columbia"  (source)

All things being equal, "Roughly 48.9% of Americans are Protestants, 23.0% are Catholics, 1.8% are Mormons (members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints). Christianity was introduced during the period of European colonization."  (source)

No prob, 3 hail Mary's on Sunday, some coin left in the basket, and start the week 'sin free'

Does anyone care what the Vatican thinks ?

Probably not, but on this I think they got it right.

Actually surgically mutilating someone just because they imagine they will be happier if they are a girl or boy instead of a boy or a girl is iMO an abomination and the surgeons that do it should be struck off. They need a good psychotherapist not their genitals or breasts removed.

If some guy wants to wear a dress and makeup, go for it, just don't look to surgery to make them happy, as it probably won't. They will likely still be the unhappy person they were before, but physically altered with no way back.

If anyone wants to know more, go to Thailand and talk to some old ladyboys.

Perhaps they are not real Christians, but go to Church on Sundays and behave like heathens the rest of the time.

Rather like those people that get married in Church and get a divorce later.
