Fighting between Myanmar government and Karen rebel forces continued throughout Saturday night and into Sunday morning, driving more civilians to seek temporary refuge in Mae Sot district of Thailand’s western province of Tak.

The rebels launched mortar and drone attacks against the remnants of Myanmar troops, who have retreated from their last camp in Myawaddy township and are now holding out in trenches and bunkers near the second Thai-Myanmar friendship bridge, about 1.5 km from the Thai border in Tha Sai Luad sub-district, Mae Sot district.

Meanwhile, the Myanmar government responded with air strikes, using Russian-made MiG-29 fighters and helicopter gunships, against rebel positions in Myawaddy. The sound of bomb explosions and automatic gunfire could be heard from the Thai border throughout the night.

Has anyone heard the Thai government comment or condemn this action by the Myanmar military junta government? The Thai government should be offering safe refuge to the innocent Myanmar civilians caught up in the fighting. But will they?

They provided safe passage for the Junta and their spouses during an airlift

They get treated like <deleted> from both sides of the boarder, since covid we have got to know a few of them Burmese and they are a canny bunch of people, In our soi there is a row of rooms I think about 10 there all Burmese looks like hey all work in the hotels one couple we got to know both work in a 5 star hotel, they keep the place clean and tidy no noise of any trouble,

The one girl we know you should see the house she has built, fair play to her, and her husband will come and change light bulbs for us and plumbing issues, he also gave us a load of plants,

Another Burmese woman we know has been here 17 years was telling us she has nothing to go back to, the army ransacked her house and robbed everything. I guess she wont be supporting the junta,

A couple of months ago the wife decided she wanted to sell her scooter, the first to call about it were Burmese, they wanted to come and see it obviously, they turned about 6 of them, One of them seemed to be the boss he was doing all the talking, anyway they wanted the bike they paid the cash, the bike was for one of the other guys, what was happening all these guys donate money to the boss man, maybe every month until they have enough money and they will buy the next guy a scooter, before they went they asked me have I got any more scooters, If I find they will buy, quietly he said we buy from farang is better, 555

ASEAN member nations' principal: No interference with internal affairs each other.

Thailand might accept refugees from Burma.

But accusing their regime is the last thing Thai Govt ever does.

Thailand did not take part in economic sanctions (imposed by the West) against their previous military government either.

In that respect, their policies have been pretty consistent for decades; in return, Thailand can import large amount of  resources(e.g. natural gas) at concessional rates.

Thailand doesn't condemn anything.  It's a cultural thing.  Thai people generally don't condemn or speak out against anything either.

It's about avoiding any possible negative consequences.
