My girlfriend actually told me she prefers to be with a Farang BECAUSE a Farang does not expect to pay everything for his woman. She thinks that most Thai men are old-fashioned in the sense that they will expect to pay for their woman, making her dependent upon him. She told me that with me, she can feel like she contributes as much financially as me, and feels she is her own woman more than she ever could with a Thai man. I couldn't believe it when she told me, he had to ask her for clarification about 3 times before I was convinced I had heard it right and it was not just something else getting lost in translation. Normally we use an app to split our expenses 50-50. Food, rent, everything. I do sometimes offer to pay for things which I know are expensive for her or that she normally would not do or get if it wasn't for me. But we are generally talking about relatively small things. Pizza, massage, something like that. And no we are not married, but she tells me she is not so interested in marriage in general. You'd be surprised how independent some Thai women are, especially if they have a decent income themselves. And with all of this, my gf still does not expect or even want me to do half of the household, like an independent woman in my country would. She honestly treats me like a <deleted> king. If I attempt to clean up, she will tell me "go rest, you are tired", even though she works more than me. She won't take no for an answer. She does so much for me. I do make sure I give her some good D in return most nights. I've had one relationship before with a western woman and it was the total opposite. She was arrogant, terribly lazy, expected me to clean up after her, just horrible. Didn't want sex most days cause she was too tired. I will likely never go back to western women. Sure, many Thai women who are with westerners think of the whole picture; the prospects of maybe moving to a better house or being able to travel a bit do help, but mostly Thai women are interested in being with a decent guy who doesn't drink too much, doesn't beat her and doesn't cheat too much. However, I will also admit that I like being with a Thai woman because of the entire picture, including the fact that it makes it easier for me to live in Thailand. -

Coming to Thailand
That's your opinion, and you are totally entitled to it. Personally, I drank a lot of beer during my brief internment during Thailand's lockdown, primarily because travel and shopping was still significantly challenged by local restrictions. My non-exempt entry expired shortly after they closed the borders, so after a couple of covid extensions and getting a new retirement extension, I was out of here 1st June 2021. Our overall spending was significantly LESS than normal due to Covid restrictions. It was amazing to see the surge of nervous squatters posting the unanswerable question of "will they still issue covid extensions?" on this forum towards the end of their current 60-day extension. There were PLENTY of opportunities to go home or elsewhere. I was offshore Malaysia (after serving their quarantine requirements) and back in the UK by September 2021 to get the Covid shots that were still a total lottery to get here. Came back here in November. After some surgery here in February 2022, I was back working in Sabah. That's where I was when the government ended the covid extension charade. But maybe you were a milkman. Thanks for arguing. -

Agree, never liked paying the licence fee. But I mainly object to the ridiculous numbers of layers of management in the BBC, far more of a waste of money than the presenters (not justifying or condoning by the way). All those managers, yet so many high profile people got away with some pretty heinous acts. But I still watch BBC News as it's generally unbiased and they try to be accurate. Plenty of folks could raise items where they believe they are not of course. And so can I, but when compared with MSNBC, Fox etc. they are angels. -

Be warned about Lazada's new silly rule

This TV is sitting atop a credenza in the kitchen with HiFi speakers either side of it, the headphone jack will plug into the amplifier Aux input so the last thing I want is another soundbar. I have an LG soundbar in the cupboard for the last 5 years. -

If Trump is re-elected what does it say about the I.Q of the average American?
Data has been published stating the IQ of Trump supporters is 3-4 points lower than the national average. Actually, this understates the deficit. To achieve the national average means the IQ of Trump supporters has to be 6-8 points lower. I can understand billionaires voting for Trump. I can't understand the poor and minorities who vote for him, they are the first he will throw under the bus. Trump himself refers to them as basement dwellers. -

Yes, quite. In Thailand, those homeless often make their living collecting plastics, empty tins, and bottles(by selling them to the recyclers). And they very rarely harm others. And unlike in the first world, violence against such vulnerable people is not so common. While quite a number of homeless bullying is reported in the west. Some assh*les even post their scene of crimes on internet. -

EV Charging Stations (CS)
Your first para, yes, something like that. In some videos that I’ve seen, people get a queue number, in this CS where parking can be chaotic and where there are multiple chargers, not the solitary charger that we have here. If you look at Pib’s post above, you can see that CM is rather poorly populated with the red pin chargers. Only one 24/7 charger which has been out of action for over a week due to the floods and 3 off peak chargers only. Thus, there is almost always a queue. As for getting the charger all to yourself (evil laugh), go after 1 am 🙂 -

I honestly don't know why tourists keep coming back here, the first visit was ok, but after that my view of Thailand has gone downhill ever since. I just don't see the attraction, unless you are an aging expat who wants chase young girls around and sit on a barstool every night.
