Crime Customer Stabs Shopkeeper After QR Payment Refused for ฿10 Drink
Picture courtesy of Workpoint. A 59-year-old grocery shop owner was stabbed in broad daylight after refusing to process a ฿10 QR code payment due to store policy. The shocking incident occurred, at a small grocery store located near Denchai Condo in Bang Pu, Mueang district, Samut Prakan province. The suspect, identified as Mr. Zen Tan Pai Mu, a 24-year-old man from Myanmar, was swiftly arrested by local police at a nearby workers’ camp shortly after the attack. The victim, Ms. Prayad, recounted the terrifying ordeal and shared CCTV footage from the store to warn others. The footage clearly shows the suspect placing an item on the counter before suddenly lunging forward and stabbing her multiple times. Ms. Prayad bravely resisted, struggling with the attacker until she managed to flee and call the police. According to Ms. Prayad, the altercation began when the man entered her shop and attempted to buy a bottle of Krating Daeng energy drink for ฿10 using a mobile QR payment. She explained that her store only accepts QR payments for purchases of ฿50 or more. He left the store but returned a short while later, attempting again with a bottle of drinking water and receiving the same explanation. Shortly after, the man returned a third time wearing a face mask to hide his identity. He began placing several items, including white liquor and fabric softener, on the counter while pacing the store suspiciously. At one point, he entered the storage area, prompting Ms. Prayad to ask if she could help him find something. When he returned to the counter, he pretended to prepare a QR payment on his phone. Suddenly, he drew a knife and launched a surprise attack, stabbing Ms. Prayad in the face and both wrists before fleeing the scene. Though she was not seriously injured, Ms. Prayad admits to still being traumatised, especially due to the store’s proximity to a large migrant worker camp. She said the attacker had previously visited her store and had never raised suspicion. She hopes her story serves as a warning to other small business owners to remain vigilant. Report Thai News Anchor in Public Sex and Porn Allegation Storm
Picture via Facebook/ท่านเปา A top Thai news anchor has been accused of engaging in public sexual acts and selling pornographic videos online, sparking a media frenzy. The allegations emerged on Sunday, June 8, via a Facebook page named Tan Pao, which described a high-profile news reporter wearing glasses reportedly distributing explicit content through a secret chat group. The Facebook post suggested that the reporter, often in front of a studio camera rather than on the field, recorded his activities in locations such as petrol station bathrooms and railway tracks. Disturbingly, all this was shared within a covert online group, adding further fuel to the already blazing speculations on social media. Photos purportedly showing the journalist were shared online, prompting a guessing game among netizens eager to unmask the reporter's identity. The images included a naked man in a petrol station bathroom and another exposing himself in a shopping centre. Public curiosity quickly narrowed down the suspects to a few familiar faces in the Thai news industry. Veteran news anchor Sorayuth Suthassanachinda, a prominent figure at Channel 3, was among those named. Known for media charisma coupled with fair skin and glasses, he appeared at the studio post-accusation wearing shorts, playfully showing off his legs to highlight differences with the leaked images. Keeping the spirit light-hearted, another Channel 3 personality, Pasit Apinyawat, joined in with humorous social media posts. Sharing pictures in shorts, his captions declared, “Not me, my legs are a lot bigger!” while maintaining a witty tone about staying indoors away from mosquitoes. Additional named reporters, including Gunchai Kamnerdploy, Phakphoom Phansatit, and Ekapat Choedthammatorn, also took to social media, vehemently denying any involvement and poking fun at the wild conjecture. Meanwhile, Facebook page Jmoi v+ further alleged that the reporter, described as married with a child, may secretly be homosexual, with the incriminating videos now supposedly scrubbed from his online presence. Legally speaking, public sexual acts fall under Section 388 of Thai Criminal Law, penalising public indecency with a fine up to 5,000 baht). Distributing or selling explicit content online breaches Section 287(1), risking up to three years' imprisonment or a ฿60,000 fine. Offering or hosting such materials on public internet platforms could also invite scrutiny under Section 14(4) of the Computer Crime Act, translating to penalties reaching five years’ incarceration and fines of ฿100,000. While the scandal stirs public discourse, the identities remain unconfirmed amidst a swirl of allegations and humorous responses within media circles.
