The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) plans to introduce a new electric boat taxi service in July. Managed by Krung Thep Thanakom Co (KT), BMA's business division, the service aims to enhance transportation and boost tourism in the city. It will initially be available at Khlong Phadung Krung Kasem and nearby canals, and eventually expand to major canals like Khlong Lat Phrao. Passengers will be able to use a dedicated app to book rides, with fares calculated based on distance.

Currently, KT is in talks with electric boat makers to decide on the design and cost of six to ten-seat boats. Two prototype boats will be tested during a trial period in July.

Meanwhile, the BMA is also expanding its motorcycle taxi-booking service through an app. The service, currently being tested in four Bangkok districts, is expected to register around 5,000 motorcycle taxis and 90,000 licensed drivers by July. This will make booking rides more convenient for passengers through the BMA's dedicated app.
