TGF will be applying for visa to visit me in UK.

I know we need proof of our relationship over at least 6 months, proof I can support her, letter from her employer. That should all be easy.

But, does she need to show them her bank balance with a certain amount in there? If so, how much?

Any other advice to improve her chances?

I've seen the form, any advice for filling it in to improve chances?

Thanks,

Bye.

Under the UK immigration rules the visa officer has to be satisfied that the applicant will leave the UK at the end of the proposed visit. It's as vague as that. There is no set amount to have in the bank. Indeed, if the officer is otherwise satisfied, then an applicant may have nothing in the bank.

You need proof of your ability to maintain and accommodate your g/f in the UK and evidence that she has a job to return to. If she owns property, land, etc then those documents should be adduced too. Basically the visa officer is looking for proof that the applicant has every reason to return to Thailand.

There are no hidden meanings in the questions on the form and it should be completed as required. However, if this is your g/f's 1st trip to the UK the likelihood is that she will be interviewed and the current waiting time is circa 6 weeks for visit visas.

Scouse.

At the risk of a grandmother egg sucking rebuff, it would be advisable for you to provide a sponsorship letter. For guidance the following is the gist of a letter I have used on three occasions:

The British Embassy,

Wireless Road,

Bangkok 10330,

Thailand.

For the attention of the Entry Clearance Officer.

2. Return air fare, Bangkok to London/Manchester, on a "return confirmed" ticket.

4. Any other assistance which may be required upon arrival, for the duration of the visit, and upon departure.

I have also attached additional information which may be required or of interest:

[name] may be contacted at housephone [No] or on handphone number [No] if required.

Yours Faithfully,
