Hiring A Merc For A Week

Featured Replies

I want to hire a newish Merc for a week when my folks come over to do some sightseeing and house-hunting. Can anyone recommend where to go to hire one, and approximate prices?

I am afraid I can't tell you where to find one in BK.

But as a price guide there is a company up here in Chiang Mai offering them at 10,000 a day, so expect BK to be dearer.

IMHO it would be much easier (and cheaper) to hire a minibus with a driver ,then you could spend your time in conversation with them instead of having to concentrate on not hitting motorbikes!!!

I agree with ThaiPaully. My son and my son-in-law rented motorcars in Ireland, where they were not accustomed to driving on the left side, nor on such narrow lanes. My son ran off the macadam (we would say off the pavement) and had to pay to replace the tire. Car wouldn't start the next morning as well, so the airport fellow apologized and gave us a new Mercedes 220K or 190K instead! A driver and a minibus sound much better for Thailand, for several reasons.

Ok thanks guys. 10K per DAY is huge. Can you recommend anywhere to go to find a car/driver?

Petchburi car rental is quite cheap and efficient. Petchburi Road, just past Soi Soonvijai, heading out of town...

Used them several times as I lived around the corner years ago.

Thanks Cap'n. I live on Ratchada so it'll be ideal.
