Several teenagers who were involved in a violent attack on another teen have handed themselves over to the police. The assault happened near a water reservoir in Bua Yai, Nakhon Ratchasima and left the teen victim with serious head and wrist injuries.

Yesterday morning, a 16-year-old boy, the son of a local assistant village leader, and his family handed themselves over to the Bua Yai police. They did this after the police had been chasing them all night.

Journalists tried to interview the group of suspects but they were quickly led into a pickup truck parked outside the police station. However, one of the suspects responded to a question about the motive behind the attack.

Upon hearing about the incident, Tienchai, a 60 year old village headman, came to the police station. He said that the fight started after the victim reportedly threw a homemade bomb at the group, but it didn't explode, which then led to the serious assault.

He added that aggressive posts were shared online, stirring up tension. Tienchai confirmed that the attacker, who used a knife, was indeed the assistant village leader's son. He emphasized that there shouldn't be any interference in the police investigation and that the law should deal with the crime.

The local community has been left in shock by this incident. It has brought up concerns about youth violence and the worrying role of social media in escalating fights. The victim, a 15-year-old vocational college student, will take a while to recover due to the seriousness of his injuries.

This highlights the need for better ways to prevent youth violence and the escalation of online threats that lead to real-life harm.

It's called parenting... something very lacking in many families in Thailand.

Such a pleasant and peaceful place, the land of smiles. Just one morning's headlines:
