Thailand Expecting A Million Inbound Chinese For 2007, Three Million For 2010

Thailand expecting a million inbound Chinese for 2007, three million for 2010

In a boost for tourism, the Thai government aims to attract more Chinese travellers to the region, and aims for three million travellers by 2010.

Projections this year already show that Chinese travellers to Thailand will hit one million, and with the revelation of a series of new initiatives, this number is sure to increase for the near future.

One of the key measures will see the government issuing complimentary visas to Chinese tourists. As well as this, the Thailand National Tourism Bureau will offer special ‘Green’ Travel Packages, along with special tours for senior citizens from China.

In recent years, with the Chinese tourism boom, many countries have been trying to cultivate this lucrative market. In 2006 China was the largest source market for travellers across Asia with over 34 million Chinese outbound visitors.

Overall, the government is projecting that nearly 15 million travellers would step into Thailand this year, and a further 20 million in 2011.

It's certainly possible. One million Chinese is only 1 out of every 132 Chinese citizens. It can only go up IMO.

Well Thailand better start getting new tourist facilities and locations sorted…as the big 7 Thai tourist destination are already overloaded & let down by poor infrastructure.

I did read that by 2020 Thailand expects up to 25 million tourists a year just from mainland China, I will bet that European & Western tourists get slowly pushed away

The face of tourism in Thailand will sadly never be the same

Correct, so that's 1 in some 132.000 Chinese.

As of today China has 1.319.692.550 people but that figure is changing every minute/second.

This year 9.375.035 (9.3+ million...) babies have been born in China; that figure is also changing every minute/second.

BEIJING, Jan.7 - China's population and family planning minister said here on Friday that China will work to limit its mainland population below 1.37 billion by 2010.

Staggering numbers...

Right, I dropped a zero. One of every 1,320. When talking of China, the numbers are always mind boggling.

Just hope the promotion of a civilised society stays within their mindset after the Olympics lest the TOT have to hire & train a corp of janitors and cleaning ladies for the week-long Chinese holidays ...
