July 12, 20242 yr Does anyone else have Smart Tube on their Android TV? I had it added when I bought my TV by the guy in the shop where I bought it. It's basically Youtube without the ads, which is a real bonus as Youtube is really pushing the limits with advertising. I had a 30 second commercial yesterday, won't be long before it's in the minutes, trying to force you into paying for ad free Youtube. Anyway, I digress, the Smart Tube app will no longer load the videos for some reason, maybe Youtube has had the app cancelled?
July 12, 20242 yr Update the app to version 22.38 and it should work. Developer has sent out several updates in the last few days to fix the issue. Above version is working on all my and my friends devices now.

July 13, 20242 yr YouTube premium is only 149b here, so not with the trouble of a 3rd party app. Same with Netflix, it’s dirt cheap

July 13, 20242 yr Error 403 is the problem. Google has added a new javascript that makes it fail. However.. There is a temporary fix for HD content only. Update under the info sign in the app.

Bit of a job to install and import your subscriptions from You Tube, but loads of Vids on You Tube to show you how.

With the SmartTube app on Android and Fire TV devices, if it doesn't already give you an app message prompt asking you to update, you can always check for doing a manual update in the app Settings menu, under the About tab... In there, there's a menu item to check/click for checking for app updates. On 7/13/2024 at 1:04 PM, paahlman said: Error 403 is the problem. Google has added a new javascript that makes it fail. Whenever something like that happens, the first thing I always do is check manually if there's an available update for the app. Last week, there was, I installed the update, and it solved the 403 errors problem. Lately, Google said they were going to be doing things aimed at countering third-party apps that provide the same kind of benefits (no commercials) as those provided by their own paid YouTube Premium service. Frankly, for me, the SmartTube app is a far better app than any version of the native YT app, chiefly because it has far more available customizations, including the ability in Settings to entirely hide any of the pre-configured content menu categories that you may not be interested in or use.
