July 25, 20242 yr Popular Post I’ll be moving back to UK to work again after 7 years living here. Should I get a criminal record check to show I haven’t been in prison? Sorry if this is the wrong section to post this.
July 25, 20242 yr What did you do here in Thailand that you think you need a criminal records check? Never heard of such nonsense that a returning UK citizen requires a criminal record check. They'll take your finger prints and DNA when you re-enter! LOL. Edited July 25, 20242 yr by CharlieKo
July 25, 20242 yr Popular Post Better to never mention Thailand. If they ask just tell them it was an extended gap year, touring the world.

August 5, 20242 yr Can't hurt. Maybe the OP wants to work with, kids or vulnerable folks, who knows. Most Thai's with immigrant visas to Western countries have to get theirs it's not hard and I think takes about 2 weeks, and not a lot of money. You have to go to BKK and you will end up with a certificate like this, although this a few years back and might have changed But whats the harm, maybe a few hours of you life and maybe you never have to use it. Whats to lose? Edited August 5, 20242 yr by GinBoy2
August 11, 20242 yr so, in a job interview, oh by the way, I haven't been in prison for the past 7 years, here's proof.... why would you need that or even be asked?

Since the advent of computers, increasingly govt and employers are becoming more intrusive and requiring criminal record checks for all kinds of jobs. To the OP, it would be convenient and easier if you get a CR check whilst still in Thailand and then it does not have to be applied for from abroad should an employer need something like that.

October 6, 20241 yr I'm late to this but for anyone else with the same question - if you plan to work with children then yes definitely get the certificate while you're still out there, I'm having a nightmare trying to do it from back in the UK. Your employer will run a DBS check on you but ask for certificates from other countries you've lived in too, as DBS only covers UK.

Sorry if this is the wrong section to post this. It depends what job you go for. As examples; If you want to work in Education in UK, you'll need a criminal record check as you've been out of the UK for more than six months of the previous five years. If you wish to work in Healthcare, either private or NHS, you'll need to show employment history, sometimes going right back to your first ever job. DBS checks will be needed for both of the above but that only checks your history in UK.
