Interesting image from the early 70s. Starving kid second from the right lucked out with a AK47. Far left skinny kid has the relatively rare Franchi LF-57. SMLE kid has at least a sling on his, as it will weigh a bit. Tall kid feels gyped; he's got the piece of crap sporterized carbine, with a bayonet bodged on and a stock held together by tape and string. Lived in Belfast 96-2004, so the trouble is not surprising, and that its happening in the crappy streets around Sandy Row, where they might be trying to burn out migrants. I wouldn't discount the hand of organised crime in the recent trouble; they organise quick, to assert control and turn a situation to their advantage. I've been face to face with the so-called "residents association" in this area. They were the same blokes painting the kerbstones and lamp posts red white and blue. They seemed to have a say about who was allowed to live around that <deleted> hole of an area. I moved out and brought a place in Carrickfergus, a town where a lot of the cops came from. Still had trouble there, when some muppets tried to burn out some catholic monks. Otherwise, nice wee seaside town. English people haven't much clue about life over there. Loyalism was nothing to do with loyalty to the Crown forces; the Loyalists would regularly attack the police. It was all about loyalty to a religious creed. If the Queen was loyal to that creed, they had her back, but she would lose their loyalty if she did anything judged to be "catholic". TR might not last too long there if he rocked up waving his Irish passport about, in certain areas. Some would call him a Plastic Paddy.
