im off out now on a little social experiment.

 

I'm heading to a well known tourist ghetto dressed in the stereotypical tourist attire.

I'm going to pretend that I am fresh off the boat and have no clue about anything.

 

I'm also going to say yes to anything that is offered to me.

I have a spare 10,000 in my pocket and i'm bored so I fancy a bit of fun..

 

who knows where I may end up!

btw, if you see a bloke dressed like this today then it may just be me!!

Decades ago I did a social experiment as a "Deaf Tourist" ... results were hilarious.

i have many an island t shirt to wear around thailand. my koh chang one is my favorite fits great. nothing better than walking down bangla road with a samut songkran ampawa t shirt on. or going through lk metro with a phuket t. im not fat and ugly like the cool guy in your pic but i do a good job of looking like a nerd. thai gobble it up.

the ladies love a newbie like me. and i love sitting listening to them talk. try this one bobby.

 

get talking to a girl and have her think you are new and all that. wear out a thai t shirt of some kind. then when you are playing pool with her use google translate and type in camouflage. point at your shirt. see if she can figure it out.

If you're as fluent in Thai as you claim to be, biggest challenge would be to not accidentally correctly pronounce any words in Thai  which would be a sure-fire give away that you're not fresh off the boat.
