A man holding two knives wreaked havoc in Bangkok's Prawet district by assaulting local residents. The Thai police are finding it challenging to catch him and have asked residents to stay on alert as they continue to address the crisis. This incident was reported in some detail on the Facebook page of Nakorn 45 Anuwat Phoampai.

“People ran for safety! On responding to an emergency call, rescuers were suddenly attacked by the patient they came to help in the Prawet area. The patient seized two knives and started attacking,” said the post.

On July 30, the rescue team interviewed by reporters explained that they were initially called by the suspect’s mother to take her son to the hospital. At first, the young man seemed normal, but as they were preparing to move, he began acting unpredictably. He picked up two kitchen knives and lunged towards the rescue workers who were trying to move him.

The sudden burst of aggression made the rescue team retreat and call the Prawet police for assistance. However, the situation worsened as the man became more unsettled, wildly waving his knives, according to one resident.

“He was brandishing the knives and charging at anyone who crossed his path.”

Despite the police's attempts to control the man, he managed to avoid being caught. He ran across several lanes of a main road, making it even harder for the police to arrest him. The situation is still not under control and the police are worried about the security of the nearby inhabitants.

A police officer at the scene revealed that their main focus is to ensure public safety.

“We're doing everything possible to capture him without causing more harm.”

With the man still on the loose, local residents have been advised to stay indoors and avoid the area until the situation is under control. Police vehicles are regularly patrolling the district, keeping close watch and responding to any updates.

If only he had used a pedestrian crossing, that would have stopped him.

drugs and underlying mental illness. Bad mix.
