August 2, 200719 yr The Marriott serves good martinis but the Marriott is kinda expensive. Regular bars don't know what they're doing (I'm too impatient to teach). Some "international" restaurants don't either. Anybody know a good venue that definitely can make a good straight up dry martini, reasonably priced?

August 6, 200719 yr As almost everyone has a different dry-martini taste, you just have to find the bar that suits you and pay the freight. Could this become another piss-up thread? Groups meeting in different bars each week to test the quality of the dry martini? Later a Scotch-sampling, then a draught beer sampling? There's a lifetimes work ahead of us .....

What is that? I know olive oil, but wouldn't use it. What about a chilled glass, or cocktail onions, other alternatives. Suggestions awaited.
