You basically have two kinds of people that live in America. The ones who live in reality and then the ones who believe propaganda, conspiracy theories, and who are willing to buy into any fictional narrative that aligns with what they want to hear. It’s a form of denial. 
 

Sadly it seems about half of Americans fall into the later category. Partly it’s a lack of education and critical thinking skills, but many of these people are the types who believed in things like the earth is flat, UFOs are real, the trip to the moon was fake, Jesus will save them, etc. These types of people had these beliefs long before Trump came along. Trump is just the latest addition to their craziness.

It’s not only a lack of smartness, it’s a matter of wanting to live in denial and then believing what they hope would be the truth. Trump actually often does the same himself it seems.

I was not expressing a position on the truthfulness of his claim. I was merely pointing out that him saying he got beat, in no way eliminates any of the claims he has made, or shows that he's abandoned those claims.
