12 month net sim still working 2 years later

Featured Replies

I purchased a 12 month ais sim in October 2022

Still working and next month it will be 2 years.

Probably jinxed it now but always use it in one of those small mobile routers that are very small and handy for taking on holiday.

Never been used in the phone just as a hotspot.

Keep thinking I will need to buy a new one but this keeps going and quick internet connection .

Anyone else experienced this?

Not that I am complaining .

I expect if I put the sim in a phone it would expire .

Is it a True SIM?

Ais

Are you also saying you have never topped it up in any way - Ie no new money on top of whatever you originally paid for it 2 years ago?

The AIS net marathon 1 year SIMs tend to self renew if you have enough credit in your account.

1,600bht (ish), taken the day your last year expires.

Strangely enough I have the same deal, from AIS, also started in October 2022.

Think I'll dump AIS this October as the data has become very iffy for phone banking.

DTaC Turbo100 next time.

my 30-day AIS tourist SIM is still active 12 months later.
I let it lapse after the first month. After 3 months back at home, I was able to put a few baht on it and it fired straight back up.
Now I just make sure to keep an eye on it while I'm out of the country (home) and keep at least a few baht credit on it, until I'm in Thailand. No problem whatsoever.
I think they keep the number reserved for at least 6 months, if you let the credit expire.

Never change a winning horse - enjoy the ride while it lasts 😉

Never been topped up it got registered 2 years ago and never been out of the small pocket mobile router since,

Never topped up and no idea what the number is.

paid about 1600 baht or 1800 baht and it should have finished last year.

Could it be that it has never been in a mobile since it was registered?

it gets used daily by my son as all his friends have no data and they connect to this .

Never had any credit.

Never topped up
Always buy these and put them in a mobile router for when we go away as only use TOT internet at home with wifi
Never use data on our phones apart from this ais router with the 1 year sim
I was going to put it in a mobile phone and check the number about 5 months ago but as its 2 years almost without topping up any credit i will leave it as it is.

Yes never topped up .no idea what the number is.
Never been in a phone since 2022 so no idea how it could even get topped up

Don't forget that in Thailand to activate SIM you have to register it to your name/passport.

They know who you are and might decide to cash in on you in the future. Or it might be their plan all along, claiming you agreed to another year extension by keep using their services.

Nah they just forgot it will deactivate one day.
Good luck with trying as my wife activated it and it was only a 1 year sim.
End of the day its only about 1800 baht a year so not a problem just great while it lasts but in another year or 2 it will be slower than any others i expect

maybe you get a bill like that village that get water bill every 2 years and moan

See 4 confused people, out of no reason, when I only ask where the SIM came from. You stupid guys have absolutely nothing else to do? It´s laughable! 🤣

Ok, but then I missed that. I looked now. However, thanks! Maybe one of the ones who clicked confused could have done like you and correct me.

Could be. After I canceled my Banglamung Cable TV instead of renewing it, they waited 2 years before they actually cut me off.
