No it's a genuine question nothing to do with any other types of snakes found  in Thailand, only real one.I live up north near Chiang Mai and commonly see snakes around the home.

Most of which I believe are harmless, garter snakes and the like. However, this particular one was being harassed by the cats and would not leave. It was determined to get into the kitchen, probably to hide.

I normally leave these alone or at least try to deter them from getting inside, as once they get in, they are not so easy to get out.

This one unfortunately wouldn't leave.....

Anyway after looking at it closer, it appears to have two large fangs, sheathed, in the front of it's mouth. I cannot find out what it exactly is as it doesn't fit descriptions of fangs or tail length on any of the snakes I can find on the net.

Any one know what it is?

It is of no use asking any of the locals here, as any snake is considered to be venemous, even when the snake is a grass snake. The northern names are very different from the real Thai names or the common English names.

Two names mentioned in northern dialect have been gnu singh, and gnu Jern, no idea what they are eitherpost-49459-1186214833_thumb.jpgpost-49459-1186214908_thumb.jpgI have added these photos as attachments, not sure if you can see them as I have never done this before, so apologies if I have made an arse of it.

Many thanks in advance!

Probably an Indo-Chinese Rat snake http://ecologyasia.com/verts/snakes/indo-c...e_rat_snake.htm but could be a White Bellied Rat Snake. The round pupils are typical of rat snakes.

Round pupils are also typical of young Thai students, due to their on-going overdose of desserts and junk-food. I mention this only in passing.

Ah yes but unlike the dreaded Thai student, rat snakes are non-venomous, docile and don't own motorcycles.
