I retired 20 years ago, but when I was working, I had the option to work at home most of each week. I tried that, but there were too many distractions, and it was easy to put off any actual work until "later." I finally concluded it was simpler just to drive over to work, as it was only 10-15 minutes away and I could actually get some work done there. I had my own office and no real supervision, so why not? Plus, there was always someone around who was up for a long lunch. As for work-at-home causing depression? That's probably more of an individual thing for people who are already predisposed.
