Motor racing is popular in Thailand and a GP here would attract great support. The problem, though, is both the cost of setting up such an event. and the tough rules and regulations which have to be applied. A street circuit would help to reduce the cost issue, but it would mean chaos for at least a month in the pre and post work, and F1 really doesn't need another street circuit. Buri Ram is a conventional circuit, and just about works for Moto GP, but it would need a huge amount of upgrading to qualify for F1. All in all a nice idea but not practical in my opinion. -

Corruption scandal hits the brakes: Thailand’s bus industry whistleblows dirty dealings
A shocking revelation has swept through the coach bus industry of Thailand as several anonymous companies have blown the whistle on rampant corruption within the Land Transport Department‘s vehicle inspection process. A sneaky bribe of 3,000 to 4,000 baht is all it takes to fast-track an inspection, making life suspiciously easy for some. This disgraceful practice was put under the spotlight following the recent bus blaze tragedy that claimed the lives of 23 children and teachers. The vehicle involved was discovered to have illegally installed gas tanks. Out of 10 NGV gas tanks on the coach, only six were there legitimately. This scandal has raised alarming questions about the integrity of public transport vehicle inspections across the country. Furthermore, some of the gas tanks were installed inside the bus, increasing the risk to both the driver and passengers in the event of a gas leak. In addition, police investigations into other buses from the same company revealed that every vehicle had more gas tanks installed than the approved number. Channel 3 conducted interviews with multiple coach bus companies regarding the vehicle inspection process. Some stated that the inspection was carried out thoroughly as part of vehicle registration renewal and tax payment, which is required every six months. The inspection period usually runs from January to June each year. These companies confirmed that bus operators couldn’t pay bribes to authorities to expedite the registration renewal process. However, according to media reports, some bus companies admitted to paying officials 3,000 to 4,000 baht or more for a quicker inspection. They explained that long queues formed between January and June, as officials were only able to inspect 10 vehicles per day and were unavailable on weekends and public holidays. Pay extra The bus companies also stated that the queues were even longer in areas like Bangkok, Pathum Thani, Ayutthaya, and Chon Buri, where many buses are registered. While waiting in the inspection queue, buses would not have valid registration plates and were unable to operate, causing companies to lose significant income during this period. As a result, some companies chose to pay extra to the relevant officials to speed up their inspection process. Paying 3,000 to 4,000 baht would hasten the process slightly while paying more would be considered as VIP treatment. VIP companies could have their inspections conducted immediately after payment. Some bus companies felt they had no choice but to pay to continue providing services to passengers. As of now, no relevant officials have come forward to verify the information shared in the media. British cuisine is nothing to get excited about. The way you treat cabbage seems to consist of boiling it until it is gray. As for the Scots, how they consider haggis to be remotely edible is beyond my comprehension. Actually, there is an Australian cuisine - pavlovas, lamingtons, vanilla slices and real beef pies. We keep the best for ourselves. You've probably never tasted garlic yabbies either. Why should we be ashamed of ourselves? Australian debt as a percentage of GDP is 59%, yours is 85%. How can you be deadbeats, after looting the colonies for so long? -

How to use aircon to keep the air dry?
Yes. But I do not drive an internal combustion engine machine. So, I am being good to the Panet. And, if you want to dry the air quickly, and block out the outdoor noise, and have the indoor temp that you choose...then....my methodology NEVER FAILS. The OP asked for what would work, failure proof, and my method works. Actually, my method will not use that much more electric power if you just keep the space heater at 300 Watts, and then turn the AC thermostat to 25 degrees C, or maybe 23 degrees C would be best for drying the air out quickly. No charge for my great advice, of course.... -

Thai gov. to tax (remitted) income from abroad for tax residents starting 2024 - Part II
Because the rules are written for Thai rental income. Foreign remitted rental income has quite possibly, never been taxed in Thailand before. If you think about the different scenarios, in some of them applying that deduction defies logic. You wrote : “It was discussed a long time ago that any rental income that is remitted to Thailand would be considered gross of all home country deductions/expenses which would be replaced by the 30% Thai standard deduction, or, if actual expenses were greater and all receipts were available, the greater amount, per the TRD Code”. For example, gross rental income might expect to be reduced by agent fees, local taxes, cost of repairs etc. For Thai assessable income purposes, the amount of rental income remitted to Thailand is presumed to be gross and not to have been reduced by the value of those deductions/expenses. Then you said, you'll remit your own rental income less agent fees (net, not gross) which makes it "reduced by the value of those deductions or expenses", so going against the advice provided in your own tax guide. Anyway, as you say, you're under the TEDA so it is immaterial, to you. If you take the Thai standard deductions on this, you're either remitting actual gross , or you're remitting net, then getting additional deductions on top of deductions you've already made ( that would be a nice scenario). Beyond your own situation, consider one where the property is in fact highly leveraged and makes no profit (common in property investing) : here, you could be faced with situation like this: Gross rent: 20000. Foreign deductions including interest: 20000 If you take your guide as is worded above, you could then remit 20000 'gross income' to Thailand , claim the "actual expense method" deduction , and have no liability. -

I heard a neighbour had one, it was making a racket when starting and at normal operation, best to test drive properly before buying, and spare parts should be a concern unless near a dealer who can get them... A lot for sale after 1 or 2 years, and a lot lower price than new, not a good sign for a bike model...! -

A Thai woman is seeking justice after a hit-and-run on a zebra crossing in the central province of Pathum Thani on October 1 left her with two broken legs. The victim, 50 year old Rattana, took to social media to search for the pickup driver who crashed into her at around 5am on October 1. Rattana shared CCTV footage of the incident with the public and urged anyone with useful information to contact her. In the video, Rattana is seen standing in the middle of a zebra crossing, waiting to cross to the other side. She stood on the road where many vehicles passed by at high speed, as there was no traffic island. Suddenly, a black pickup truck hit her, causing her to collapse to the ground. The driver did not stop to check on her and did not even slow down. Channel 7 reported that a motorcycle taxi rider, Sutirat, spotted Rattana lying in the middle of the road and called a rescue team to the scene. Sutirat said he and other taxi riders tried to identify the pickup’s registration number but failed. Sutirat added that another victim, a 90 year old, was previously hit by a car at the same spot, as most motorists drive at very high speeds on this road. Rattana was admitted to Pathumvech Hospital. Both her legs were broken, and her left arm was swollen. She shared that she would be unable to walk for many months and could not go to work, resulting in a loss of income. She has two sons to care for and wants the pickup driver to take responsibility for his actions. According to Rattana, she filed a complaint with officers at Khlong Luang Police Station and hopes the police will bring the pickup driver to justice as soon as possible. 1. Wait would depend on the hospital, but usually not long. Of course the endoscopy would have to be ordered by a doctor at that hospital. And she must use her nominated SS hospital. (Or one they refer her to, if she needs something they can't provide). 2. SS will pay up to 700 baht for room. If you want one that costs more, you can pay the difference. All the same applies to tonsillectomy. 3. All follow ups (including meds) would be covered by SS. If cost is zero consideration: What is the very best clinic for dental implant in CM?
I have had very good endo work here, for sure. But, I really know very little about implant surgery, bone grafting, etc. So, this is why I am asking. Whether or not all dental surgery care is the same in Chiang Mai, without regard to training of the oral surgeon, this I also do not know. I would prefer to have a dentist trained at some one or more of the better schools in the US, i guess. Some school like Tufts or similar, maybe. Also, not all dental surgeons are equally painless, or Endodontists I mean to say. Some are much better than others, and more skilled. I wold say...it never hurts to choose the best available in one's local area...but I would never go to BKK...for something as simple.
