The body of a 36-year-old man, later identified as Phaitoon Suanjabok, was discovered floating in Lam Ta Khong, a natural watercourse behind Plookpanya School in Nakhon Ratchasima, on October 2. The discovery was made by locals who immediately reported the gruesome scene to authorities.

Police Lieutenant Napadol Taweerakakul from the Nakhon Ratchasima City Police Station arrived at the scene to investigate. The deceased, a resident of Nakhon Ratchasima, was found with severe stab wounds on his neck, left arm, and chest. The body was submerged in water filled with dense vegetation, masking it from immediate view.

Forensic experts from Maharat Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital and officers from the Provincial Forensic Science Division were called in to gather evidence.

According to initial investigations, Phaitoon worked as a labourer and lived with his 82-year-old father. He was last seen on the evening of September 30, drinking alcohol near the water, a common routine for him. His family began searching for him when he didn’t return home but found no trace of his whereabouts. It was only later, when neighbours noticed something floating in the water, that his body was discovered.

The location where Phaitoon was last seen and where his body was found is approximately 50 metres apart, in a secluded area with no security cameras. Investigators suspect that the killer targeted Phaitoon.

A police investigation is now underway to identify and apprehend the culprit as quickly as possible.
