Thailand's Finance Department has announced updated benefits for the welfare card program starting in October. Individuals who qualify can now get several types of allowances and benefits such as subsidies for transport, shopping allowances, and more substantial disability payments.

These additions were announced on Tuesday, October 1 by Teeraporn Phasuk, the Deputy Director-General of the Finance Department and official spokesperson. The benefits will be available for those who enrolled in the 2022 Welfare Card scheme and carry smart ID cards.

Beneficiaries will get a 300 baht monthly allowance to buy items, starting from October 1. This applies to those who verified their identity between August 27 and September 26. Unfortunately, they won't get any backdated benefits.

Every quarter, recipients can also get an 80 baht discount on cooking gas purchases from October until December. Plus, they will receive a 750 baht monthly transportation subsidy for public transport services such as buses and trains. Keep in mind, these allowances are non-transferable and can't be carried over to the next month.

Starting October 18, people with disabilities eligible for the disability allowance will get an extra 200 baht each month. That's in addition to the current 800 baht month disability allowance. However, to qualify for this, they need to have confirmed their identity during the same period mentioned earlier. Once again, there won't be any retroactive benefits.

These allotted funds will be transferred to bank accounts connected to the eligible person's ID number, or the bank accounts of those who receive the 800 baht disability allowance.

For inquiries, people can call the Welfare Card Customer Service Center at 0 2109 2345 or the Finance Department Call Center at 0-2270-6400 during office hours.

These timely updates ensure qualified individuals receive financial help to manage their everyday expenses. The welfare card program continues to be a vital source of financial aid for those needing it, helping to improve their standard of living and economic stability.
