Chiang Rai Certificate of Residence

Next month I'll be back in Thailand right when my Thai drivers licenses expire.  I'll be staying in Chiang Rai for most of the time, but originally got my license in Chiang Mai so I've never used immigration in Chiang Rai.  Just wondering if anyone has experience on if it's tough to get a COR in Chiang Rai and what the requirements are, either at the main office in the mall, or at the office in Mae Sai, which I'll actually be closer to.

I also have the option of just getting the COR from Chamchuri in Bangkok before I head up North since I have an LTR, but I don't know if the DLT in Chiang Rai would accept a COR from Bangkok? 

 

I have an address I can use for either, so that's not a concern.

 

Any insights or the best strategy would be great.  Thanks!

Suggest you do a TM30 and obtain your COR at CR.

Be aware that you can renew your TDL up to one year past expiry.
