Husband Shot Dead in Domestic Dispute in Nakhon Si Thammarat

Police received reports of a fatal shooting in Nakhon Si Thammarat province, on October 28. Police Lieutenant Kamnueg Songkhwan, along with other officials, responded to the scene, a stilted wooden house located at 39 Moo 5, Sam Tambon, Chulabhorn district. They found the body of 44-year-old Mr. Suchart (last name withheld), who had been fatally shot.

 

The deceased was lying on his side near the house entrance, with shotgun wounds to his neck and chest. Nearby, police found his grey and black Honda Wave motorcycle with a sidecar, parked outside.

 

Investigation revealed that the residence belonged to Mr. Klong (last name withheld), 79, father of Mrs. Amornrat (last name withheld), 39, the victim's wife. Earlier, Suchart had arrived at the home, calling for Amornrat to return with him to their residence in Na Mueang Boon, a neighbouring area. An argument erupted when she refused. Suchart reportedly circled the property on his motorcycle, threatening to harm her if she did not comply.

 

In a sudden turn of events, Amornrat took up a registered shotgun, aimed through a window, and fired at her husband. She then reloaded and fired again, this time killing him instantly.

 

Police Colonel Thawatchai Sanghamitkon, Chulabhorn Police Station, stated that Suchart and Amornrat, both farmers, had been married for years and had an 18 year old son. However, their relationship had deteriorated due to Suchart's drug involvement and violent behaviour. After a previous arrest for drug possession and theft, Suchart served over two years in prison and had recently been released. Since his release, his behaviour reportedly worsened, leading to frequent disputes and physical altercations.

 

The night before the incident, Suchart allegedly assaulted Amornrat, prompting her to flee to her father's home for refuge. Suchart then tracked her down, demanding she return with him, which led to the fatal confrontation.

 

Amornrat voluntarily surrendered to authorities, handing over the shotgun used in the incident. She confessed to the shooting, explaining that she acted in self-defense, fearing further assault from her husband.

 

Police have confirmed that the firearm, registered to Mr. Klong, was legally owned. Authorities have taken Amornrat into custody for further investigation and will proceed with legal actions accordingly.

Shouldn´t need to be any legal action for a woman who protects herself from being abused, by shooting a non remorseful ex-con that when released behave more bad than before. Better charge the prison system, for not doing anything to rehabilitate the misfits.
