The Baby Shield - One of my favorite Thai scams

Featured Replies

So your girlfriend starts getting calls all of a sudden.  5 times a day.  It's the Thai family.  The druggy boyfriend lost his job again.  The woman is drinking all day.  They forgot to pick the kids up from school.  The crack whore aunty has thrown them out.  Time for the baby shield.

The baby shield - To use their kids to filter money to them for more booze and glue.

The land scam - To use the false purchasing of land somewhere far away as way for you to send money into a ghost account that they have full control over.

I know a lot of people get the mechanics of those two mixed up.  I made a table showing the data of a Baby Shield scam.

How about you?  How many families do you support?

I’m terribly sorry for your life sucking ventures, though it’s nice that you can come here and share your experiences.

You really need to learn to say the word NO. Then that green line will flatten out for you.

OP your posts are so negative about Thailand, why are you even in Thailand?

I have no idea what you're talking about as I dont have any issues you mention above.

Though the OP is negative, it’s a factual occurrence in TH that guys get snagged by a conduit beggar and are too weak to pull out.

How long have you been here? How can you not know what he’s talking about?

Maybe he means he's had no experience of it?  I haven't experienced it myself, but I can understand the concept of a relative asking someone for money with a made up excuse...  🤔

well...I started working in Thailand in the early 90's and moved to Thailand fulltime late 90's so it's been awhile.

I'm not saying this doesn't happen. I'm saying I dont have those issues.

I was very lucky, I met my wife when she was 22 and we started dating when she was 24. She never had any kids, her sisters are awesome and are both married. We've never been asked for money from her family, actually most time we get together my brother-in-law will pay the bill.  My wife has a job and makes decent money.
